Loreto School Placement, 2019-2020.
This placement took place over the course of ten weeks from November to February 2020 and was the final placement in the PME programme.
Loreto Secondary School Balbriggan is a voluntary all-girls Catholic secondary school that strives for academic, personal and holistic excellence. The school has a rich tradition, which aims to develop all the abilities of our students in order that they realise their full potential and use their talents for the service of others. This is done through the spirit of Mary Ward, who founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary of which Loreto is a member house.
While teaching at Loreto, I had the opportunity to Teach and Team Teach:
Three groups of first-year students.
One group of fifth-year students for Art History and Appreciation of Art.
Team Teach one Transition year group in Junk Kouture fashion design.
Team – Teaching of Junk Kouture Module gave an in-depth view of the runnings and application to the competition.
Junk Kouture School Fashion Show
Junk Kouture Fashion Show: Run every year in the school, I had the opportunity to assist with the fashion show production by assisting with Video and Audio presentations and with students costumes.
Artist Visit to School
I organised for professional artist, John Byrne, to give a talk in the school with the fifth-year group I taught, to aid their study of Art History and Appreciation of Art topic, Public Art. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the group in learning about being an artist as a career path. John Byrne, had made a sculpture for the school commissioned through the percent for art scheme.
